Are you ready to build a home?
Building a house. Securing financing. Selecting finishes. Moving. Packing. Storage. Timelines. Switching school districts. Figuring out your new commute.
There are a million thoughts, questions and ideas that run through your mind when figuring out next steps toward your next house. (And probably a few dozen pins on Pinterest.)
Here are 4 signs that you and your family may be ready to build a new custom home.
1.You know what you like.
Your must haves: Split bedroom floor plan, vaulted ceilings, fireplace, 3 car garage. You prefer to choose your own countertops, flooring, siding, and window style. Maybe you’re downsizing or growing your family. Over the years you have figured out what you absolutely have to have and have decided that you’d rather build your next home. If the current homes on the market don’t quite fit the mold, then you should definitely consider building.
2. You are patient.
Homes aren’t built overnight. We don’t say this to scare you away, but a quality home build takes time. From basement digging to move-in day, the whole process takes 6 months. We want to make sure our subcontractors have adequate time to do their work, materials can be ordered and delivered and, hopefully, the weather cooperates.
3. You want to be the original owner.
If you’re tired of living with other people’s shag carpet, leaky downspouts or ancient furnaces, it’s time to build. Building a house guarantees everything is brand new. And not only that, but new construction homes come with a one year home warranty. Should anything go wrong, give us a call. We will work with you and the subcontractors to get any issues addressed. Putting your clean dishes in brand new cabinets is a pretty refreshing feeling.
4. Your financial ducks are in a row.
This statement fits whether you’re building or buying, but should be true nonetheless. Be sure to talk to a lender you trust about what you can safely afford, how much equity you have in your current home, or different types of loans and finding the one that would best suit your situation.
If these ideas resonate with you, building a home could be the next best step. I’m sure there are a few other questions and thoughts swirling around in your mind, so ask us! We’re happy to answer any questions and keep that ball rolling on your dream home!
